Borders

<Where did we get the RIGHT.. on any ground, legal, moral or ethical to hand over one nations home, land, property, everything in fact, to another?................Short answer is we didn't have the right... not then... not now... but as the most powerful force in the world we thought we could do it without significant repercussions... how these things do come back to haunt us eh Frank?

Er, the United Nations, a collection of all nations, did the "handing over." Just for the record. And the land belonged to nobody in particular at the time, it was a leftover chunk of the Ottoman Empire that was being controlled by the British.

There never were any such people as "Palestinians" before fifty years ago. The Palestinian people were Arabs who happened to live between the sea and the Jordan, and got caught up in the mess. They are trapped in camps by Arab nations who will not allow them to be incorporated into Arab nations, because as refugees they currently serve as useful cannon fodder for the Arabs, who treat them like dirt themselves. BTW, Arafat was born in Egypt.

Heck, half the planet has been "carved up" and passed around, just this century alone. Africa was whittled up into arbitrary nations over the past couple of centuries. Europe was completely repartitioned after World War I, and again after World War II. North America and South America were parceled out by colonial powers, and only settled on final borders in the 19th century. This has been going on since humanity settled down enough to actually start laying out national borders.

And yes, sometimes this arbitrary reworking of nations has come back to haunt us.

Still, had the Arabs not decided that Israel had to be exterminated (three tries), everyone could have just accepted the new layout and gone on with their lives, and a lot of people would still be alive who are dead now.
