Trans-Jordan

The territory in question was part of the Ottoman (Turkish) empire and was ceded to the UK after WWI. The area was called Palestine and consisted of what is now Israel and Jordan. The UK had originally planned to create a Jewish state from the entire area since the Jews were the only people that had ever claimed the area as a homeland. Instead, in 1923 the Brits created the Arab state of Trans-Jordan from 75% of the territory. This was intended to be the Palistinian Arab homeland. The remaining 25% was to be the homeland of the Jews.

Maps and History Unfolded

As with all things related to this situation some will disagree with this version of history but I have never heard anyone, Arab or Jew, claim that there has ever been a sovereign state of Palestine or deny that for some reason the Arab natives of that region are considered undesirable (god only knows why) by other Arabs.
