I grew up in SoCal, mostly. I don't recall a major difference in security precautions between then and now. Nor in people's level of honesty. There were bad guys and good guys then, as now.

Maybe there has been a "decline in morality", but I'd need statistics before I would assert it was true. In fact, isn't an assertion of belief as truth, something close to lying?
