Re: Moral judgements

"Cripes...good thing this doesn't apply to politics!"

Yes, this would apply to us both, Tom... :-)

"Actually, I haven't been approached by an evangelical "have you been saved?" type in years, although they were a lot more abundant in college. "

Hehehhe. Try an Oklahoma college. Sometimes we had two-at-once yapping it up on either side of the commons!

To give okies credit, on year they got tired of one of them that was calling for the killing of 'athiests, jews and satanists'... They stipped him naked and threw him in the campus pond. (we don't keep Tar handy nowdays in Oklahoma... It just aint neighborly anymore to go an' do that)...

"For the record, while a churchgoer, I'm not an evangelist. I normally avoid discussing religion at all."

For the record, I am an athiest who likes to pin evangelicals to the wall (linguistically). :-)

"Not the sort of thing you want to haul out if you want to really convert somebody"

In general, but not universally, anyone you do 'convert' with a flyer or a swoop-in-in-moment-of-weakness is likely not someone who
1) You really saved for life, more like someone who is saved for the week and
2) Not really someone you want batting for yer team in anycase. Next week he'll be saved by a satinist or a stalinist or a Ayn Randian.
