1. Once I found a lady's purse. It contained over $200, an Argentine passport, an airline ticket for Argentina for the NEXT DAY, and a university ID. I took it to the campus police and made them empty the contents and sign a receipt that included each item. This would insure that everything, including the cash, got back. It did.
2. I once found $180 in the street in front of my house. Just a wad of money, no wallet or any ID. I walked to the houses down the block and asked if anybody had lost a wad of cash. Nobody had. Then I got a call from a boy who had been house-sitting during a neighbor's vacation. He told me the correct count and denominations of the bills. I told him to come by for the money and he did.
3. My son lost his university ID which is also a credit card for university bookstores, restaurants, etc. It was returned. No charges had been made against the card.
4. I also found a walking stick with an address on it. It was only about 100 yards away from its home, so I returned it at once.
