<Now, I am an atheist, this at least he can claim ignorance of. I was very offended- do you see why?
An Atheist did the right thing to a moral Christian and did not steal his hard-earned money, and was told by that moral christian that all thieves are unbelievers and unbelievers will go to hell.
Well, I wasn't there, but it seems to me that he was just showing you the gimmick, not specifically directing it at you. After all, you didn't pick up the money, right?
And by the way, from a Christian standpoint, thieves are sinners, not necessarily "unbelievers." The question of belief and damnation are completely separate. It is a Christian tradition in some churches that the first person Jesus saved was the thief hanging next to him on another cross.
And do you find something wrong with moral judgments in principle?
