If you read all the literature, you realize that the environmentalists have set it up so that no matter WHAT the ozone hole does for the next fifty years, they have it covered. And in fifty years, who cares what happens? If it turns out the ozone hole is basically a form of weather, the scientists will be long retired or dead.
Look, I don't even like talking about the ozone hole. The environmentalists won. I ate it. Personally, it only cost me about two thousand dollars, and I got past it.
What I'm trying to do is keep them from wrecking the rest of my life. At some point, I would like to have someone tally up the costs of what they do. Clean air and the rest are worthy goals, but these things have serious costs, and it irks me that the environmental movement is totally free of any liability for the things they lay on the rest of society.
Go to Congress, force the car mileage rates up. Who pays the price? Not the environmentalists. Fix it so that it becomes impossible to build nuclear power plants. Then turn around and shriek that we're burning fossil fuels. Make it almost impossible to go to a town and build factories, refineries, stores, dams, roads, new buildings. Then wail about how bad our employment rate is, and wonder why our work is going overseas.
They have vast power, and no accountability at all. It used to be the goal was to clean up the environment. Now the goal just seems to be obstruction. Just once, I'd like to see a class-action suit from some industry they've wrecked unnecessarily.
