Since I'm not planning on moving to an Arctic zone anytime soon, I'm not worried about it.
In point of fact, it's entirely probable that there have been ozone holes for thousands of years. They get big, they get small, depending on the weather, solar flux (currently increasing) and other factors. Ozone in the upper atmosphere is created by sunlight. It would be odd indeed if areas of the planet which get six months straight of sun and six months of dark didn't have unusual quantities of ozone at different times of the year.
We have been measuring what may essentially be a normal planetary atmospheric phenomenon for all of thirty years, and have crippled industries...just in case. If the only thing going was the CFCs, it wouldn't be so bad, but the environmentalists have pretty much anything more advanced than a wooden plow lined up in their gunsights. The ozone hole issue is dead! Long live the CO2 issue!
I'm not gloating. I'm angry.
