Probably what will happen now is that people will go through all the records release and no doubt many other people on that base wil be questioned by the press. If there's nothing wrong then the whole issue is resolved.
This is the way democracy is supposed to work. Bush asserted some things about his service that weren't true and got caught out on it. Now people are trying to find out how much of the rest is true. If it's found there's nothing to hide then Bush would get a boost from it, which should make you happy.
In fact I can't see what you are complaining about. you think Bush is telling the truth and the process of interviewing people will vindicate him, which is what you want. So if this process is giving you what you want I don't see why you are unhappy with it.
One can argue that he shouldn't have to release records, but he is only doing so because a lot of people don't believe him. It's his choice to do something about that or not. There's no witch hunt, the records and knowledge exist and when people look at enough of them the issue will be settled one way or another.
It was the same with Whitewater and other issues with Clinton. For that level of responsibility people have a right to know if their president is honest or not. You can take it too far and make it into a fishing expedition for partisan political purposes which is wrong. politicians have to be accountable for their past, it's part of the job.
Some people don't care about affairs with interns, some don't care if he went awol or not. When there are credible allegations of criminal activity it is better for everyone they be checked out. This guy Burkett might be lying like many were in Whitewater against Clinton. If so then I don't see why you are unahppy about an investigation that exposes it.
In fact your attitude is the worst from Bush's point of view. If you had your way all these allegations would never be investigated and the suspicion would do him enormous harm. If you believe he is telling the truth then you seem to want him to take the only course of action that hurts him.
