The earlier headlines out of Israel said the kid was a 10 y/o.

Whatever. (The US gets only censored material from that conflict, by the way.)

There's something very wrong with a world which condemns a people for defending themselves from ethnic cleansing with the only weapons delivery system they have, their own bodies, against an army, armor, air force, helicopters, rockets, and artillery. A world which condones the slaughter of these relatively unarmed people by a very well equipped military.

Remind you of Masada? A well-equipped army against a civilian population?

These are a people who can't stop that army from robbing their banks, from invading their homeland at will, from invading their houses at will, from destroying their houses at will. From detaining their citizens at will. From having tanks roam their streets, helicopters rocket their houses and apartments, artillery and naval gunfire shelling their villages.

Masada was a siege, though, not an attack. Same principle, don't you think?

They only have their bodies and light arms with which to fight back, to try to preserve their presence in their own ancestral lands. Against a military attempting to drive them back.

There is enough savagery to go around in that area of the world, AND, in this day and age, ethnic cleansing is not OK. This ethnic cleansing is not killing people rapidly, it's making them so miserable, life so hard for them, that they'll leave their own lands, their own homes. Before they're bulldozed, a crime against humanity by international standards.

At Masada the Jews committed suicide. I somehow suspect that if they could have taken a few Romans with them they would have.

It is not one-sided, the Israelis are not innocent, either. It's just that they have a military to do it for them. They don't have to deliver explosives with their bodies. They have rockets, artillery, tanks, airplanes, a navy.

And it's ALWAYS the innocent who suffer. Always. On both sides.
