Frank -

I appreciate the advice, which is worth considering .. I also take on board the implied criticism (re making myself look as ugly as the perpetrator) - written of course in your usual moderate and diplomatic style.

However, there are some things about your post which need a response -

I guess he can vote for who he chooses.

Did I say he couldn't? Where did I prescribe anyone's vote? Here is the relevant passage again:

If so, question to other US Zoners: what is a Nazi doing claiming allegiance to your party and president? How prevalent (Nazis as Republicans in the US) is this across thd US? I'm really starting to get curious.

I see your point: anyone can vote for whomever they wish. But I am asking about the level of tolerance of Nazis within the Republican party - something slightly different.

You can point to the freedom of expression, of organization, for all people, which your country guarantees. I admire and believe in that too. So I guess I'm just curious then - is that why Nazis are tolerated? Are Communists tolerated in your country as much as Nazis? - That is the crucial test. If so, then I accept your point, 100 percent. Otherwise, I would get somewhat suspicious regarding this tolerance. What were all the David Dukes etc doing as Republican candidates? Is that question only about freedom of expression? Isn't there (hopefully) some point at which a political organization must accept responsibility for the views of the ultra-extreme wing of its members/supporters?

In the interests of balance, I suppose a similar question would be: do the Dems harbor, or tolerate at all, Stalinist Communists among their supporters? That would the equivalent question, for the left.

Lee has in the past denied that he is a fascist or a Nazi but he does tend to let his "mouth" overload his ass at times.

Sorry Frank, rather a little too tolerant and laid back for me. Lee was not discussing fishing, or quoits, or the local Mayor, here. I am troubled by this.

Some of his opinions are probably expressions of rage that should be, at least, kept private since they are offensive.

Yeah - 'offensive'. In the same way as, for instance, someone applauding the beheading of Paul Johnson, would be 'offensive'.

We are talking about Hitler, WW2, and the Holocaust here, Frank. Remember?

I doubt that Lee wants to fire up the ovens

Oh, what a relief. Your imagery is not appreciated, by the way.

I know that attacking him (or counter attacking) serves no purpose and seems to only exascerbate.

This is the part of your post I appreciate - I take it in good faith .. and will work on a better counterattacking strategy.

Since no one has ever been barred from this forum since it's inception the best course may be to ignore any personality that irritates you.

Frank, I have said before here that I oppose barring individuals, in the interests of freedom of speech. But what is this 'irritation' you are talking about? I am 'irritated' by posts about crop circles, little green men, or how G d should vacate His chair to make way for Ronald Reagan. Do I jump up and down about that? Answer: l leave well enough alone, or participate in a diplomatic, respectful manner.

Frank - would you be "IRRITATED" if someone came on this board with posts romanticizing say, the eventual nuclear destruction of the United States? Would that 'irritate' you?

We are talking Hitler and the Holocaust here, for Kreissakes. Your laid-back and diplomatic style is great for most posts but was way out of line here.

You seem a substantial and decent man, so I hope you will take this post in good faith. I still do recognize and appreciate the spirit of your advice, in any case.

Daniel
