Here's a parallel situation in Australia - the Howard government is Thatcherite, very right of centre. One senior government minister is, as you guys might say, a real 'hard ass' - I've even known hardened New Yorkers who dislike him intensely. The former personal secretary to this senior minister went on to become the main power behind Australia's largest racist party - AND is also known to have had links with Neo Nazis here.
Hence my suspicions as stated in earlier posts in this thread. I am still hoping to learn Frank's position (and too bad Tom isn't around ..). It's possible Frank just sees Lee as a harmless misguided nut. That could even be true - but even so, it still shows great inhumanity, as you point out.
Above all, we have to fight the good fight just as our parents generation did in WW2. This is serious stuff.
