No that doesn't work either.

A homogenous world with one race and one culture is the formula for stagnation and then decadence.

If we look at history we see that it is disparity and conflict which lead to progress. Hot and cold fronts move the atmosphere around, create clouds, bring rain, etcetera. A world with a fixed temperature would bring no action.

America has become more decadent in just the 15 years since the fall of the Berlin wall and the reunification of Germany/fall of the Soviet Union. The decadence became apparent in government, in the lax manner our intelligence services fell to pieces, in the sellout of our missile guidance technology to China, in the music industry which programs kids to worship ghetto dwellers and their vocabulary, and with the appearance of reality television shows which are the moral equivalent of the games in the Roman forum. Yes, America's in trouble.

The spectre of Islamic jihadists blowing up a US city is almost necessary to bring us back from the brink and start to reassess our values. From those whose job is to guide and direct the masses and prevent total rot from overwhelming society, 9-11 was a wake up call that the barbarians are indeed just outside the gates waiting for America's masses to become decadent enough to open the gates wide and unguarded.

The Nazis could only gain power because of the injustices imposed upon the Germans at the close of the great war. The insufferable French and the prejudiced Britons, and the selfish Americans were the tools Hitler used to grab power. Al Qaeda uses the US presence on 'holy' soil to get followers and recruits. When you are poor and live in squalor - your pride is all important. When someone can point to someone who is injuring your sole possesion - your pride - then they will gain a driven follower who will attack. The Nazi rallies were rallies of protest, pointing fingers at those who were perceived as enemies of the German people. In that sense Hitler and bin Laden share this same recruitment technique.

Contrast leads to progress. There will always be rich and poor, leaders and followers, good and evil.

The world can never be balanced. There is no such a thing as utopia. Utopia would be stagnation. We strive to better society, not in the quest of arriving at perfection, but rather because in doing so we live in a manner that dignifies human existence.
