The Viking experiments -- let alone subsequent tests -- have demonstrated that an open mind is an absolute necessity for even beginning to understand Mars -- where apparently nothing is as it appears to be. As for any consensus that precludes Levin's claim... I think Mr. Clark has admirably refuted it.
