Out of about 14,000 school districts in America, this is what, two?
One school district in Pennsylvania -- so far -- and potentially an entire state's mandated secondary science curriculum.
As long as there is one school board anywhere which cannot understand the difference between science and religion, between reason and faith, and which belongs in school and which in church, there is a struggle. As a scientifically-trained adult with children in school, you should be a part of it. You should at least be concerned.
Or have you bought into the "faith-based" agenda so completely that you are blind to its full potential?
If you weren't so narrowly focused, Tom, you might have read the Kansas article a little more carefully. You might realize that "intelligent design" has yet to be challenged in the courts. Perhaps you'd prefer to lose this one because it isn't labeled "creationism".
You might consider the possibility that "the spectre of superstition" applies equally to your fear of creeping Socialism as it does to the Biblical literalists. Seems to me this country is a lot less socialistic and a lot more capitalistic, in spite of what you parrot from the blogs about what's allegedly occurring on university campuses. And you might just realize that the antidotes to all superstition are reason and action.
