"Thanks. I share your concern over industrial fishing practices. Russia, Japan, Norway and China along with the US are employing practices which, from what I have read, are over the top in destruction of breeding stocks. I think if the UN had any real purpose, they would see that an enforcable rest period would be applied regionally worldwide, and that known breeding grounds would be strictly rationed, if not prohibited. But enforcing governance on the high seas is very difficicult at this time. Ed"
Well, perhaps far more effort should spent on trying to increase fish stocks. Up to now, fish farming has been fairly successful. Can goverments do more to help in this area? More scientific study. And economic measures that would result in significantly increasing global supply due to fish farming? The open ocean is vast, could like something like .1 % of the ocean be "somehow" used and reserved for fish farming. And politically could the effort to improve fish farming and use of open ocean for this type activity, be issues which can bring all nations together in order to solve this problem?
