Would it really be so bad to make serious moves away from things we burn to power our civilization?

If we look seriously at the people who say everything is OK, what do they have in common?

If we look seriously at the people in developing nations who still use wood, charcoal and coal, is there a way we can give them a hand to develop a less combustible technology?

Can we do that if we continue to whistle to ourselves that nothing much needs to be done? Will we have any technological solutions to offer if we don't get serious about developing some long-range, industrial-strength solutions for ourselves? We are the lab, and the time to develop these solutions is now, not later.

If the greenhouse gas people are right and we don't act, we will have lost our opportunity and drowned or starved our grandchildren.

If the greenhouse gas people are wrong and we act anyway, we have gained other options for energy production. Who does that hurt? IOW, who opposes this now?
