Most computers today are limited by DISK SPEED

not processor or RAM speed. Disks are electro-mechanical with parts that move. Mechanical motion is vastly slower than electronic switching. It takes several milliseconds for a disk head to move into place to process a given track. For faster computers, we need faster disk drives or other bulk memory to replace disk drives.
