I have to agree. Unfortunatly alot of new computers are being sold with just 128 or 256 MB RAM. With that amount of RAM Windows XP runs like mollasses. An older 400 mhz computer running win98 with the same amount of Ram runs faster. I get a lot of people asking me why there new computer is so slow. The answer is always, buy more RAM. That is the singlemost important thing anybody can do if they have a 2 ghz machine or better.
This has been a very interesting topic, and one that I hadn't given any conscious thought to until reading it. Moore's Law w/ regard to processor speed is certainly looking dead at the moment. Its actually been kind of refreshing, knowing my computer isn't out of date by the time it gets shipped to me. I've had my work computer for 3 years and its still pretty damn good. My home computers are roughly the same speed and I paid a fraction of the price this year.

- Moore's Law has finally failed ?
- Most computers today are limited by DISK SPEED
- Maybe not!
- Intel press release on failure to increase processor speed.
- I think the next big push will be multi-processor chips.
- Why any faster?
- Diminishing returns

- It's more of a guideline... (n/t)
- Not the physics, but the markets
