15 years is a long time. I'm guessing in 15 years the desktop PC will be nearly extinct. Instead we will have terminals that simply plug into the internet. I will be able to sit down at any terminal in the world, enter my login, password/biometric scan and voila my desktop, apps, and files will appear on the screen. My Files will be striped across thousands of servers to provide redundancy, and my apps will all be subscription services. Instead of buying software we will lease MS Office or AutoCAD and it will actually run elsewhere, but my profile will have permission to run it. Cable TV and satellite will also be attached to my profile, so I can choose any programming I wish simply from my desktop and have it run on my monitor or route it to my home theatre system. The only hardware I will need is a keyboard, mouse and monitor that gets a constant broadband feed as soon as it powers up.
OK maybe 15 years is too short for all of this, but I can dream can't I.
