What's to stop Microsoft from incorporating some aspects from Linux into its OS? After all, Linux is supposedly open, free to be copied, recreated, etc...
Couldn't Microsft re-create Linux, only making it slightly better. Thus turning Linux on its head?
I would think this would be especially true for the Microsoft Server Applications. Although maybe a better approach would be to make Microsoft's applications more difficult to interface with Linux...Thus cutting Linux off at the knees...Oh but then that strategy didn't work to well with Sun's java...Or did it??? Sun, despite its anti-trust victory against Microsoft, which has forced Sun's Java to be imbedded in Windows XP, is still a comany that is in a cesspool financially.
Ah who knows what Bill Gates is up to these days...He really might be Evil... I really like the guy.
If I wasn't already fully invested, I'd have to put more $$$ into Microsoft's stock. I really don't see anyone comeing close to beating Microsoft's ability to hire the best and brightest talent away from all the competition; and, maybe that is the ultimate market that a supersized Microsoft can corner and use to its competative advantage: The labor market could be played to put a stranglehold on any and all competition.
