it moves in discrete jumps.
My last job was on the EUVL (Extreme Ultra-Violet Lithography) project at Sandia, it has the potential to take chip features down to the limit of what you can do with silicon. That technology has been adopted by the chip making companies. After that Moores law may hit a wall for a while...
