I think we will, in the next decade or so, see Moore's law fail... but new technology will come along to restart the process...


That was the point I was trying to make, current tech is nearing the end of physical limitation.

But, optical processors, electron or molecular memory, and a dozen other new IT technologies under development will send things along quite nicely.

I've said for years the max speed for any box is limited by the RAM, frontside BUSS and DTR within the machine. Not the core processor.

One ceveat, all this depends on what the markets will bear. If the market won't support the cost, it ain't gonna get done.
