Misquoting me doesn't help your case
Here's the entire post:
This being Community and not Flame, I'm not at liberty to tell you exactly what I think of that statement. Put up or shut up, Gary: Go over to Flame and explain what you mean by that, or never say anything like that again.
"Put up or shut up" is very different from "shut up" alone. It's a challenge posed in a widely-known vernacular phrase.
Then, as introduced by the semicolon, I elaborated on the choice: Go to Flame to do the putting up, or really really really shut tup.
The whole thing was introduced by noting the difference between Community and Flame. The nature of Community precluded saying to Gary what he deserved to be told; and by contrast Flame is the place to do it. That is, Flame is the place where the argument can be explored to the fullest extent in all its gory glory. The place that maximes freedom of speech, for Gary as well as me.
Oh noooooooooo, it's like we've gone back in time two weeks:
I don't think the issue what constitutes treasonous behaviour belongs on flame just because you don't want to hear it. If he called a specific poster treasonous then I think that would belong on flame.
The issue couldn't be discussed anywhere but Flame because it's inflammatory. Yeah, he didn't name names, and that's the problem: He insulted and offended half the community. Did you somehow miss that gigantic record-setting thread on Flame? Given how it actually turned out, how in the world can you try and claim that it wouldn't have turned into a flame discussed elsewhere? Mark, have you been on drugs the last few weeks?
You can't shut me up by a vote.
Of course not. What was decided by a vote was that you and Gary have your heads way up your asses.
You can't shut me up by ridicule.
More's the pity. It's a shame you're oblivious to cause-and-effect: Your words lead to ridicule; if you don't want ridicule, don't say stupid things. Anyone less stubborn and pigheaded would have gotten the message.
Why are you still beating this dead horse? Get a life, Mark, please!
