Flame » in reply to MM Honesty Test For Liberals

OK, I will bite...

Did you see "Farenheight 911"?

Nope, sorry- despite what you may think not every 'leftie' saw that movie- I felt the actual 9-11 was not something to make a political 'documentary' out of- I might have watched it if it didnt have 9-11 as its focus- It seemed a little like crass exploitation to me, even if the points it raised were valid ... I did see 'Bowling for Columbine' and thought that even though it was Moore pushing his own personal agenda it made some excellent points about the culture of fear in America and how the media feeds that fear- It also made some interesting points about the american gun culture and how it is promoted by powerful business intrests...

I did NOT feel his confrontation with NRA's then spokesman Charlton Heston was appropriate- sure the guy is a raving gun nut and a public figure, but he also was suffering with Alzheimers and it showed in the confrontation- I felt that was in poor taste. I DID like the confrontations with the Wal-Mart(?) management...

I had no delusions that the movie 'Bowling for Columbine' was objective, it was really a person putting his point of view on film- I accepted that and viewed it rationally and recognized when Moore leapt off his soapbox and into hyperbole...

When watching a movie such as this where someone is selling their agenda you need to watch it critically, no matter what your politcs are, no matter what the movie's politics are, no matter if you agree/disagree with those politics.

Critical thinking- Its a GOOD thing!

Did you see it more than once?

Did you like it?

Did you feel it was accurate and objective?

See, YOU ASSUMED that every liberal MUST have watched it... poor structure for a test... These 3 questions have no meaning once someone doesnt live up to your stereotype...

Did you feel it was accurate and objective?

I havent seen it, but I doubt it was by any means objective from what I have heard- so what? Works like this are, by their very nature, NOT OBJECTIVE! Stuff like this is made on both ends of the political spectrum. It is a MOVIE!!!

Now a question for YOU: Do you think that FOX 'news' is objective? THEY are claiming to be an OBJECTIVE news source!

Do you think the term documentary is accurate for that movie?

Well that was just too good a setup from a logically challenged moron that thinks dictionary entries are a convincing argument... Here is the entry in dictionary.com:

1) Consisting of, concerning, or based on documents.

2) Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as in a book or film.

8^)

Now would I say it falls under definition '2'... naah, but it does fall under definition '1' since he uses documents to base his premise on...

Did you ever criticize this film on the habitablezone?

I couldnt since I havent seen it... just saw lots of talking heads screaming about it... BY THE WAY- did you actually SEE it?

Have you ever criticized MM on these boards prior to the last month?

Ummm, NOPE... quite frankly, I think of him as the left wing Rush Limbaugh- cept he isnt a drug addict and tries SLIGHTLY harder to get his facts straight... 'MM' really isnt that important in my view- he IS an idealogue a political hack advancing his beliefs in the media...

What is it you dislike about MM?

I think is shrill and likes to go for the shock factor to get attention... Now you want to take a look at the right wing talking heads and tell me how they are different?

(I feel the need, in the name of fair play, to explain to you that this is a setup question... so far you have walked BLINDLY into past setups... rather like shooting fish in a tin can)
