In the time of the Raj in India, a British minister was lecturing an Indian on the Genesis view of creation. He then asked the Indian if he agreed with this obvious great and magnificent vision. The Indian repied: "We believe the world rides on the back of a giant turtle." Scoffing, the Brit asked what the turtle was riding on. The Indian replied:" On the back of a larger turtle." The Brit, scoffing further, started to ask: "Then what.." but the Indian interrupted: "It's no use, Sahib, it's turtles all the way down." I ask: Who are we to scoff at anyone else's view of the creation of the world? Immense knowledge has been lost because some peoples believed their views were so superior they were entitled to destroy others' religions or beliefs. Look at the Taliban in Afghanistan who destroyed the great Buddist monuments. Or the Catholic conquistadors who destroyed the Codexes of the Maya. That's where religious exclusivizm can lead. The ID zealots should not be permitted to destroy the scientific method of inquiry, either.
