The value of debate in public internet forums

Laurie Street — 12/5/2005 3:30:54 PM (archived)

is almost nil. I can find forums where people are quite seriously debating the hollow earth theory or fairies or any number of looney ideas.

I've read a lot of the posts on bautforum and the most amazing thing to me is the patience the other posters have shown to this crackpot theory.
