Would Tom find it as sad if it was a Grandfather?
People are living productive lives longer... women are more than 'home-bodies' these days....
I dont see anything sad about a woman that doesn't feel obligated to sacrifice her later years because her kids decided to have kids...
My Grandparents spent the vast majority of the time (when I knew them) in their mobile home watching TV and essentially not going out much- I enjoyed my visits with my grandfather, and hearing about his experiences, but IF I live to that age I wouldnt live like that- I would hope to still be working on something I enjoy. If I feel that way why is it sad if a woman feels that way?
If the 'Granny' has a job, I think it is wrong to insist that she interrupt her life because her offspring decided to breed. "Sorry, I cant help with the kids, hon- nanna has to go to a design review for a particle accelerator..." - Not something I find sad. What better role model could you ask for your daughter?
