re: Ocean levels aside, there are far more serious consequences from global warming...

"Storms will grow more intense if they grow over warmer seas- THAT IS PROVEN"

I just ran across this news story and it should be fairly convincing:

"Dr. James J. O'Brien, director of the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies, Florida State University said, "Alarmists are claiming that global warming -- which they relate to the burning of fossil fuels -- have increased the intensity or strength of hurricanes. But for storms that hit the southeastern United States, there is absolutely no scientific support for a correlation between hurricane intensity and global warming." "
.....

"Dr. Pat Michaels, Virginia state climatologist and research professor of environmental sciences, University of Virginia, contests that global warming may have a negative impact on hurricane intensity, claiming, "There are many more factors determining hurricane frequency and severity, some of which (such as westerly wind strength) should become LESS conducive to hurricanes as the planet warms." "

The article also has other scientists making similar statements [they seem pretty darn certain in this regard- which you got admit is fairly rare. No doubt they this kind of responses is a reaction to other "experts" claiming Global Warming is causing more severe hurriances].
