re: More goalposts

"The point is that; since we know how the atmosphere moderates the energy from the sunshine, it becomes possible to indirectly monitor the density of the atmosphere. By monitoring the difference between the sunshine and shadow temperature in various places around the world, it would be possible to determine weather the global atmospheric density is increasing, decreasing or remaining the same. Since the sunshine travels through the total thickness of the atmosphere, the temperature difference measures the total density of that thickness. The greater the temperature difference, the less dense the atmosphere. Mercury barometers could be used to correct for the local pressure reading. "

I don't really get what your point is. But dust levels in the atmosphere and humidity would be significant factors here. And in addition, the amount solar radiation emitted from the Sun would vary. In addition the distance of the Earth from the Sun changes. Oh and course air temperature vary as wind direction and velocity- differing depending on local environments. Ok, now with all this [and probably other factors that I'm omitting] you then measure air density using a barometer.
Then it appears you are suggesting that you can measure air density using YOUR system [which is complicated because of all above factors: dust, humidity, wind direction and velocity relating to surround topography, and solar varations] and compare the two?
