Polar ice shouldn't make much difference in sea level- any ice in the ocean is already displacing ocean water [causing sea level rise from this displacement]. It's only ice not floating in oceans which melt or slide into the ocean becoming iceburgs which are going to add to global sea level.

As for all the ice in Greenland or Antarctic melting I don't know if that is going to happen within the next 10,000 years or whenever. We are in a long term warming trend, but say within next 1000 years or two there is probably a better chance of us entering a ice age [cooling trend]. And if we start this cooling trend, then the Chicken Littles will have something actually serious to scare us with.
