Just an unrelated thought:

Suddenly, a bunch of NSA anonymous sources pops up and declares to the press that all the phone calls in America are being logged except those of Qwest, a company with only about 800,000 wireless customers and based in a bunch of sparsely-populated states.

Heh. Come on in, boys. Nobody in here but us chickens.

Somebody's being herded, and not just the media.
