As I wrote you privately earlier, I was seriously considering withdrawing from the group; I am not used to being insulted publicly by individuals whose only motivation in life seems to be enforcing and perpetuating their own brand of political correctness. It's the sort of Brownshirt/Bolshevik bad-boy tactic that seems to be taking over the political landscape today. Tom, I hope you note that I have selected my perjoratives equally from left and right, it is the decent, liberal thing to do.

However, I have also come to realize that simply disappearing would only give the impression that I could not defend myself against, or that I am intimidated by, these bullies. As for the substance of the post, I stand by my remarks, which are based upon my direct experience and of individuals I have personally communicated with. If anyone seeks to point out counter-examples to my thesis, let him recount his own experiences or produce his own witness.

So I look forward to continuing my posts and participating in group activities, but please do not expect me to become a champion or warrior or opponent of any particular cause. I am a politically aware individual, but not a doctrinaire one. I do have other interests and I will be discussing and debating them as well. In the meantime, it is 7:46 in the Eastern time zone, and I have to go to work.
