And what threat WAS Kosovo (which was attacked over the head of the United Nations) to the U.S.?
We HAD a coalition in Iraq, of many nations, not all of them small ones. I cannot BELIEVE I still have to make that point. "International support" still seems to be narrowly defined as "France, Germany and Russia."
So the U.S. brought most of the firepower? Guess what: That was true for all the other coalitions, too. Now the Left is giving Bush grief for not being more involved in negotiations with Iran, as it becomes blatantly obvious that the U.N. and Europe are completely and absolutely impotent to deal with real threats on their own.
The first Gulf War was not "ended." It just kicked the main problem down the road. No doubt if we had shoved Hitler back into his own borders in 1939 and left him there we would have declared victory, too.
No matter what your opinion of what we did in Hiroshima, there sure as hell was no insurgency when we took over Japan's government for seven years. We may be finding out now that there isn't any such thing as a "delicate war."

They weren't from Afghanistan either.
