This movement is taking place largely in England and elsewhere. You might want to spend some time on the website looking at names and writings. Spend some time reading the comments of the signers.
As for your offense about Stalin: These people know who they're talking about, and their history. They're not talking vanilla "liberals," or you and Robert, and you know it.
Sorry, but the Left as an organized academic/political movement in Europe and the U.S. has historically pretty much kissed up to every communist who raised his ugly head around the world for the past sixty years. Khruschev's admission of Stalin's crimes was a major turning point for the movement, but a lot of them kept stubbornly supporting communism anyway.
At best, when the activities of the communists became too awful to justify, like Pol Pot, most of them just pretended it didn't exist.
A.N.S.W.E.R., which even today is still specifically Stalinist, does not by any means represent a majority of American liberals. But it isn't without influence in the U.S. either, and is an organizing force behind most of the major marches you see.
Saying all liberals support communism is ridiculous. But the other side of the coin I get around here, which is that no influential leftists support communism, is equally ridiculous.
