I was talking about a long history. Stalin was already a long-dead issue when I was in college, but you could still find Mao fans, and a whole shitload of Ho Chi Minh fans.
Most of the same personalities can be picked out now by their enthusiastic support of the PLO, or pretty much any nation or organization that has lined themselves up against the United States. Ask some of your buddies in academia what they think of Castro, or Hugo Chavez.
