A delicate war

And I am fed up with this President and his supporters. He lies. He brags. He bars people who disagree with him from events where he will be present so he doesn't have to be troubled by dissent. As if only those who agree with him are paying for his travel and upkeep.

I would love to know what went on behind the curtain to convince some of these nations to send 100 soldiers to Iraq. How many are still there?

So you think we should nuke people who piss us off? That's new for you.

If you notice, I responded at the end to a perhaps wistful puzzlement over why we didn't just turn Iraq into a sheet of glass. Vaporizing old people and burning children is not something I feel sentimental about. Throwing around phrases such as the one used with such casual abandon shows a lack of understanding, a lack of feeling, or both. I can only address the first, so I did. If people choose to forget, or not to care, that the "glass" would be made not only of buildings but of human flesh, that's beyond any remedy I know.

No, our parents didn't face an insurgency in Japan. They also dealt with an Emperor who addressed the nation, informed his subjects to surrender, and who disavowed his godhead on the radio. They fought an adversary who revered their Emperor, and who had been fighting a war for years throughout a far-flung empire. And they had Douglas MacArthur, who outclassed Paul Bremer by a long shot. And I don't even like MacArthur!

In case you hadn't noticed, the opposite of "brutal" isn't "delicate". It's "humane".
