re: Curious.

Bowser, once I thought you were one of those who had avoided Service back in “The Day”.

That assumption was quickly corrected by Dan Spires and someone else in a quite direct manner I apologize for anything I said in the past implying that mistaken idea.

One, Did I support the initial action in Iraq? Yes, with the mistaken assumption that it would proceed in a well planned, well run Military Operation. With someone such as those who ran the operations of the first Gulf conflict.

It turned out to be undermanned, with no follow-up to the defeat of the Iraqi military. IOW, it was a Cluster F*** in the making from the word go. As anyone who knows diddly about Military operations can tell you conquest is relatively easy, holding the ground afterwards is the hard part.

Lost in the heated rhetoric is the simple fact that damn near every Intel service on this planet believed Saddam had WMD, and would use it the first chance he had. The big disagreement was what to do about it.

BOHICA at it’s worst.

Two, Did I admit my error publically? Yes, here and a number of other places, including IRL, which has gotten me some grief from some of the more dedicated local Elephant lovers.

Not that I really give a fat rats ass what they think.

Do I know what real war is?

Yes.

Do I advocate it as a simple solution to the world’s troubles?

For the most part, No.

War is nearly always the end result of failure on the part of Politicians. The Grunts have to clean up a mess usually made by shortsighted old men who fall prey to their arrogance and ego.

The worst part is, now that Shrub and Co made the mess, we can’t simply pull out. If we bail that mess will get infinitely worse. The repercussions will eventually land in our laps in ways to terrible to contemplate.

But if we stay, it may very well reach the same awful conclusion.

We’re caught between the gigantic rock and really damned hard place.

And I have no idea how to get our tushie out of the squisher.
