Hi Lindy
Yes, 'tis I.
Although I lurk here from time to time, I have refrained from posting again until now.
I know that you, and possibly others, had the misconception that I served in Viet Nam, and I wanted to correct that.
(Truth be known, two buddies and I did volunteer while we were in tech school when the "opportunity" appeared on the squadron bulletin board to apply for helicopter pilot training. That was right after one of our airmoble units got shot to pieces in the Ia Drang Valley. Fortunately, we were told that Uncle Sam had already spent too much money on us for an even more important mission - keeping tabs on the Red Bear - and so we were spared.)
In another post about the fallen Floyd Landis, Bowser made a comment to the effect that it was only a fool who'd tell a lie that no one would believe, and I wanted to ask the question:
How then do we characterize those who tell lies that (almost) everyone does believe? Better liars, to be sure, but what about the believers? Are they/we the biggest fools of all?
Food for thought,
S
