Mine's a long story
I'll save it for a separate post. I've put out bits of it in the past but it deserves a bit of a dissertation. Short answer. 5+ years of a 6 year enlistment in the Navy as a nuclear power tech during "peace time" (even though the cold war was in full swing).
My military experience taught me it should only be used in dire circumstances and that we can never assume it's use will promote good will around the world.
