Congratulations on beating Tom to the punch with the preemptive spin. The poor guy may be having trouble getting out of bed this morning...
If you're going to try and characterize investigations by the Democratic House, and opposition to Bush's policies, as a "vendetta" and "revenge", you need to provide an alternate explanation for why the American people elected a Democratic House. Do you really think we did it as an endorsement of business-as-usual and stay-the-course? Of course not...Americans elected a Democratic House on the understanding that it would use its subpoena power to resolve old festering sores, such as the secret deal that Cheney cut with the energy industry, and the question of whether pre-war intelligence on Iraq was spun; and to investigate the slow pace of implementation of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations; and to investigate the appearance of widespread corruption among top Republicans. And above all, to change course in Iraq.
It's not a matter of "vendetta" or "revenge" for the Democratic House to honor its clear mandate to oppose Bush and investigate charges of wrondoing. Or if, in a sense, it is retribution, it's the will of the American people, who have had it with being a doormat for Bush and the Republicans. I see the outcome of this election as a clear answer to Bush's arrogance in saying he'll do what he damn well pleases and the opinion of the American people doesn't matter. We say it does, and elected a Democratic House to enforce that point. The system worked.
