Do they let someone like McCain lead them or listen to the radical right about failing to energize their base? The republicans themselves are splitting between social conservatives, fisal conservatives, and constitutional conservatives. They really didn't have that much in common other than being against the Democrats. The social conservatives are polarizing. The other two pieces can work as a foundation for a stronger more moderate party.
