If you want to call immediate investigations into...

...why, after all these years of "rebuilding", we can't provide decent amounts of electricity, water, and gasoline to Iraqi citizens, and what we can do to fix it... If you want to call that "going after Bush" then do so.

If you want to call re-implementing a vigorous Congressional Ethics committee after Republicans turned it into another reelect Republicans committee... If you want to call that "going after Bush" then do so.

If you want to call a sharp examination of what to do with Iraq and how to salvage what we can of the mess and what we can salvage of our world reputation... If you want to call that "going after Bush" then do so.

If you want to call addressing stem cell research (other than to suppress it) "going after Bush" then do so.

If you want to call putting flag-burning, gay marriage, spying on Americans' bedrooms, constructing an American iron curtain, covering the asses of Americans who torture and murder, finding new and creative ways for the executive branch to hide even more of what they are doing in our name... putting all of those on the back burner... if you want to call that "Bush bashing" then do so.

And on and on. But I've got to warn you: Yesterday the voters pretty clearly told you guys that they don't think this stuff was "Bush bashing".

In fact, a good number of the Republicans who were elected yesterday had, at least, to give lip-service to examination of our current mess and to changing it. Remains to be seen which of them were just saying what they had to in order to get elected. My gut tells me that you will find the congressional Republicans - House and Senate - will not sound the way they did a week ago. The voters sent a message, and I think a lot of Republicans heard it.
