Of course, I think about something, then either I do or don't do it. Or I discuss it with another and we decide or conflict about it. We already have the means for our consciouness to influence the universe: our hands. Reality influences us through our senses. We don't need spooky mental powers and psychic forces to interact with the universe, we have every physical tool we need, literally, at our fingertips.
"Do we NEED "faith", when perhaps we could just use the THOUGHT of a positive outcome?"
Faith helps because it keeps you trying when you know the situation is hopeless. Sometimes you get lucky. The trouble with faith is that you never hear the testimony of those with faith who failed anyway. I don't believe our thoughts can make things happen by affecting matter and energy directly. I can't walk on water no matter how I train myself mentally or psychically to do it it. However, I can use my brain and my reason to acquire or learn to build a boat. In that sense, I AM using the thought of a positive outcome.
