Car trains
The concept seems sound. Of course, first you need the high-speed trains.
For most people, flying there and renting a car is a much simpler solution, and given the current price of train travel, is probably cheaper.
Trains are a very effective form of transportation for things that are heavy and aren't time critical. Unlike passenger trains, cargo trains have been quite profitable.
