Ideology and motivations may be annoying, but if the proponents of these ideas are coming from that direction you can't deal realistically with the issues without taking them into account, even if you yourself are not approaching it that way. Otherwise, you get taken to the cleaners.
Tell me Al Gore doesn't have an ideological axe to grind in this controversy, and we can call it a day.
