Let's all hope so.
I may be well off base but my feeling is that the vote, by weakening the status of the Turkish Army politically, may soften the recent saber (scimitar?) rattling with regard to an out-and-out push into Kurdish Iraq. The Kurdish problem is a real worry. While the majority of people will always want stability and peace, the PKK may well see a major border incursion by the Turkish military, and the resulting chaos, as a good thing. As long as Turkey is close to the West the Turkish Kurds really have little chance of achieving any kind of autonomy, let alone independence. Also it is not clear (to me) who is bank-rolling the Kurdish separatists, and what their goals are. I am very afraid this has the possibility to degrade into another Chechnya-like horror story.
