Look up number 14 in Eco's list.

Reconstructing the language to demolish concepts and reform them in their own image is right there. Burning dictionaries, so to speak.

People on this board have carefully reconstructed the word "fascist" to mean, basically, "people who hate other people." In these discussions "fascist" and "racist" have become synonyms. Trump is a "fascist" for making fun of a disabled person, or being against uncontrolled immigration. Carefully avoided is the fundamental characteristic of all fascist societies in our history: the absolute control of that society by a powerful central authority, a fact the American Left wants tossed on the fire along with the dictionaries.

To them, the only part of fascism we're supposed to remember was that they hated Jews and minorities. We're not supposed to remember that the fascist ambition was to run every aspect of life in their countries. To loyal leftists in the U.S., that can hit a little too close to home.

"All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state."

To a committed liberal, everything is political. What you eat, how you do business, what kind of car you drive, who your friends are, what color or religion you are, whether or not you keep a pet, what kind of light bulb you use. The list is endless.

Liberal websites are giving advice this week on how to pump propaganda down the throats of "ungood" relatives at Thanksgiving. Is this healthy? Is making someone with the wrong politics into "The Sinister Other" any less toxic than doing it to another race?

Ask not who wears the brown shirt...

People who are constantly running away from precision of language and thought are running away from something else. And frankly, those are the people we shouldn't trust.
