By your odd criteria of "bad economic turnaround" (people getting richer), Lord Clinton really sucked. And the curves for the rest did not "go stagnant" in the 80s. They barely moved, and even rose a bit during the 80s and 90s for all but the bottom two quintiles. Points for actually pulling up a piece of data, though.

I think research is "pointless for you" because, frankly, it seems to get in your way. Your idea that women started entering the workforce in large numbers in the 80s is dead wrong. The employment curve started rising smoothly and steeply around the 50s, didn't noticeably change its rate of rise in the 80s, and flattened out around sometime in the 90s. Many charts.

I like doing research. Information isn't my enemy.
