Trump is not the disease. He is just a symptom of the disease. And although this may be a perfect example of clinical pathology in Trump's case, it doesn't explain parallel tendencies in the other candidates for the Republican nomination.

I think you're dead right on Cruz. He's like Trump, but with brains. He appeals to the same constituency as the Donald: the Bunkers and the Bubbas. You can see him now carefully positioning himself to pick up on where Trump, and maybe Carson, leave off if either or both of those implodes.

Trump is not the disease, the top three GOP candidates are all symptoms of a much deeper and deadlier infection. That adds up to about half of the Republican party, or roughly, about a quarter of the US electorate. Think about that, one in four.
